Rajan Rawal is a faculty member and Director of "Centre for Advanced Studies in Building Science and Energy" at CEPT University. He is a registered architect, graduated from School of Architecture, Institute of Environmental Design, Vallabh Vidyanagar. In the past, he served as Post Graduate coordinator at CEPT University and Head of Undergrad program at Faculty of Design. He teaches design and construction courses as part of undergraduate program & energy efficient built habitat, energy modelling, energy policy at post graduate level. His work emphasis is on 'energy performance of buildings and cities' and 'architectural science education'.

Prof Rawal leads Indo-US Joint Clean Energy R & D Centre - Building Energy Efficiency Sector (CBERD). This centre is recognised as centre of excellence by Government of India, Government of Gujarat and United States Agency for International Development. Prof. Rawal is member of technical core committee for benchmarking of building, Window Labelling Program committee at Bureau of Energy Efficiency, Member of National Building code, India BIS -CED 46 on Sustainable Buildings and BIS-CED 58 for sustainable construction, Technical Committee member for GRIHA rating system and technical expert at India Green Building Council. In 2014 he was appointed as senior expert at Global Building Performance Network. He served as member Board of Studies at various educational institutes.

Prof. Rawal is recognized trainer for building modelling and building energy efficiency, IGBC authorized evaluator for LEED certification rating for commercial buildings, and Green Homes. He is also GRIHA rating system empanelled assessor. He is founder member secretary of India Chapter of International Building performance simulation association (IBPSA) and also serves at Chair Education at IBPSA world committee. He serves as a research reviewer for number journals and projects.

Prof Rawal is currently engaged in constructing one of the early 'Net/Near-Zero Energy' building in India at CEPT University, which will function as living laboratory for energy performance evaluation of architectural design and building systems.

Bidyut Baran Saha obtained his B.Sc. (Hons.) and M.Sc. degrees from Dhaka University of Bangladesh in 1987 and 1990, respectively. He received his Ph.D. in 1997 from the Tokyo University of Agriculture and Technology, Japan. He worked as an Associate Professor at the Interdisciplinary Graduate School of Engineering Sciences of Kyushu University until 2008. He worked as a Senior Research Fellow at the Mechanical Engineering Department of National University of Singapore prior to joining the Mechanical Engineering Department of Kyushu University in 2010 as a Professor. He joined the Kyushu University Program for Leading Graduate School, Green Asia Education Center in March 2013 as a professor. He has been working as a professor at the International Institute for Carbon-Neutral Energy Research (WPI-I2CNER) in the Division of Thermal Science and Engineering. His main research interests are thermally powered sorption systems, heat and mass transfer analysis, and energy efficiency assessment. He has published more than 300 articles in peer-reviewed journals and international conference proceedings. He has edited four books and holds 10 patents. Recently, he served as managing Guest Editor for Applied Thermal Engineering and Heat Transfer Engineering journal. He serves as the editorial advisory board member of Applied Thermal Engineering journal; editorial board member of Advances in Mechanical Engineering, AIMS Energy journal, and Editor-in-Chief of Evergreen. He has organized and chairman of the International Conference on Innovative Materials for Processes in Energy Systems (IMPRES) conferences.

Professor Kim Choon NG obtained the BSc.(Hons.) and PhD from the Strathclyde University (UK) in 1975 and 1980, respectively, and joined the ME Dept. of NUS in 1981. His research interests are in nuclear power plants, solar energy applications, chillers and heat pumps, adsorption cooling and desalination, co‐generation systems analysis and testing. He has over two hundreds peer reviewed journals and conference publications. He is active in professional services, serving as associate editors in three international journals and a sub‐committee member of the examination sub‐committee of the Professional Engineers Board of Singapore. He is a visiting professor to the Water Desalination and Research Center (WDRC), KAUST (2009 – till now) and the WCU programme (2008‐2013) of Jeju National University, Korea. He has published 2 books, 3 book chapters and 12 patents and 3 spin‐off companies based on his patents but with licenses from NUS’ ILO. He received the NUS Innovation and Enterprise Awards 2014 for his contribution in AD technology. His current research H-index(Google scholar) is 33 with 3785 citations

Dr. Ramakrishna R Sonde is currently working with Thermax Limited as Chief Technology Officer and Executive Vice President – Research, Technology & Innovation.

He is involved in Energy and Environment field and is working on development of different technologies. They are the newer clean coal technologies, heat pumping technologies, advance combustion systems, water and waste water technologies. His research interests now include solar energy systems and more particularly in solar thermal energy systems which include optics, structural design, coatings, absorber design and controls system design. His research interest include development of high efficiency power conversion devices for low grade energy.

Dr. Sonde is a Fellow of Indian National Academy of Engineering and a Member of its Governing Council. He is on the board of National Board of Accreditation in its Executive Council as well as General Council. He is also a Visiting Professor at the Indian Institute of Chemical Technology. He is associated with many Government departments and autonomous institutions as Member of Boards, Councils or Committees. He was awarded Dr. Homi Bhabha Gold Medal by the Prime Minister in 2006, for his outstanding contributions in the field of nuclear energy. He is also the recipient of Dr. Doraswami IIChE Medal and Gold Medal from the Indian Nuclear Society. He was awarded Dr. Vishweswarayya Gold Medal for standing first in the University of Mysore (KREC-1979).

Prof. emeritus Dr.-Ing. habil. Manfred Groll has studied Mechanical Engineering at University Stuttgart and obtained his academic degrees there (Dipl.-Ing. in 1963, Dr.- Ing. in 1969, Habilitation and Venia Legendi for “Energy Systems” in 1978).

Since 1970 he chaired the Department of Energy Conversion and Heat Transfer at the Institute of Nuclear Technology and Energy Systems (IKE), University Stuttgart. During 1975/76 he worked for two years at NASA Ames Research Center, Moffett Field, CA on the development of heat pipe technology for satellite applications.

Since late 1976, besides teaching activities, he was responsible at IKE for numerous national and international R&D projects on heat pipes and two-phase thermosyphons, including micro and pulsating heat pipes, enhanced two-phase heat transfer, micro heat transfer in pool and flow boiling, hydrogen storage, sorption heating and cooling systems employing metal hydrides and nuclear safety (debris bed coolability).

Since 1985 he was professor for “Energy Systems” at University Stuttgart (lecture courses on Energy Systems, Energy Storage, Heat Transformation, Nuclear Technology).

He is on the editorial board of many international journals on thermal sciences and has been and is guest/advisory professor at various Chinese and Indian universities. He has supervised 40 doctoral dissertations and has contributed over 360 papers in the area of thermal engineering.

He is Founding Member of the Committee on International Heat Pipe Conferences (1973), acted as Committee Chairman from 1990 till 2004, and since 2004 he is Honorary Chairman.






Brahmanand Mohanty

Brahmanand Mohanty obtained his doctoral degree in energy from the Institut National Polytechnique, France in 1985. He is associated with the School of Environment, Resources and Development of the Asian Institute of Technology (Bangkok, Thailand) since 1986 as a Visiting Faculty, teaching subjects related to energy efficiency and management in buildings and industries, rational use of resources, energy, environment and climate change, and urban energy sustainability. Since 1991, he has been serving as the regional adviser for Asia for the French Environment and Energy Management Agency (Paris, France).

He has undertaken professional assignments for about a dozen of bilateral and multilateral funding agencies in about 20 countries in and outside Asia. He is the author/co-author of a number of journal/conference articles and books on topics related to energy technology, efficiency and management, sustainable urban energy, energy and the environment.
